UNAIR NEWS – Research is an attempt to solve the problems around us, especially around Universitas Airlangga. Universitas Airlangga’s commitment to improving the research quality, quantity, and publication has brought the university to global recognition. All members of the academic community work together to bring the university to its respectable position in national and international university ranking.
Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Community Development, Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih M Si stated, the considerations for the quality and quantity of research will take the new QS World University Rankings scheme of the International Research Network (IRN) into account.
Internasional Research Network
Internasional Research Network (IRN) is the new name of the QS World University Rankings scheme, which requires 5 years duration with 3 cited publications.
“It includes the origin countries. The more diverse the countries, the higher the value,” Prof. Nyoman said during her speech on IRN Dissemination, Monitoring, and Evaluation of Research Progress and Outcomes, at the Shared Lecture Building, MERR (C) Campus, Universitas Airlangga, on February 27, 2023.
The appreciation event was held for the lecturers who successfully conducted international collaborative research. Approximately 280 lecturers attending the event are valuable assets, who are expected to share their knowledge to other lecturers.
The lecturers were asked to guide, accommodate, and advise young lecturers who do not have international research experience.
Currently, UNAIR focuses on the number of citations. Through the Institute of Innovation, Journal Development, Publishing, and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPJPHKI), UNAIR continuously promotes research design, innovation, and community development.
“The point of this event is that we want to let the lecturers know that international collaborative research should run sustainably,” she said.
Prof. Nyoman encouraged all academicians and administrative staff to guide and accommodate publications, including conducting international partnerships. It will increase the citations.
“In the end, collaborations will indirectly improve quality and build up international networks. Keep in mind to balance the input, output, outcome, and impact,” she concluded.
