UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to strengthen its position as a globally recognized university. This is demonstrated by its performance in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR). UNAIR achieved the second place among universities in Indonesia and is placed within the 1201-1500 range globally.

UNAIR performed particularly well in the “international outlook” category, one of the key indicators in the THE WUR 2025 rankings. The university ranked second nationally in this area, which reflects its success in attracting international students.

The international outlook indicator also evaluates the institution’s ability to recruit international faculty and staff. It further assesses the university’s engagement in international collaborations with various partners.

UNAIR consistently provides opportunities for international students to study and gain experience at the university. Several international programs are designed to attract students from around the world, including AMERTA (Academic Mobility Exchange for Undergraduate and Master’s Programs at Airlangga) and LINGUA (Learning Indonesian Language at Universitas Airlangga).

These programs enable international students to expand their knowledge and experience through cultural and educational activities in Indonesia. Students also gain insight into contemporary issues in developing countries, viewed through the lens of natural sciences, health, and social sciences.

In addition to excelling in International Outlook, UNAIR also scored highly in research Quality and Industry categories. These indicators assess the quality of the university’s research output and its contributions to the spread of knowledge and innovation.

UNAIR is committed to fostering impactful research among its students, faculty, and researchers. The university promotes a strong writing culture and academic ecosystem through initiatives such as UNAIR Menulis (UNAIR Writing Program), workshops to improve the quality of journals, and the Airlangga Writing Consultation.

Through these initiatives, both students and faculty acquire valuable skills and strategies for publishing scientific research. Some programs also offer participants mentorship from UNAIR’s academic writing experts, providing individualized guidance.

UNAIR also showed significant improvement in the industry category. In the 2025 THE WUR, UNAIR scored 27.9, a notable improvement from its 2024 score of 19.1. This indicator reflects the university’s ability to contribute to industry through innovation and discovery.

In the national rankings, UNAIR shares second place with five other Indonesian universities: Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), BINUS University, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Sebelas Maret, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta.
