UNAIR signs MoU with Taiz University Yemen

UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga constantly improves its global partnership with academic institutions. In the latest effort, UNAIR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Taiz University Yemen on Monday, January 8, 2024.

UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak and the vice rectors attended the meeting at the Balairua Plenary Hall, Management Building, MERR-C Campus.

Among the guests from Taiz University were Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammed al-Shuaibi, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Junaidi DDS MDs, Nabil Ali Thabit Abdullah, and Faruk Abdul Karim Yasin Al-Ghazaly.

“It’s the beginning of a new chapter in educational collaboration,” Prof. Nasih said in his welcoming speech.

“UNAIR has some excellent research centers in the field of health and humanities, such as the Stem Cell Research and Development Center and the Institute of Tropical Disease (ITD),” said Prof Nasih, sharing a brief profile of UNAIR.

He said that besides Surabaya, UNAIR has Banyuwangi, Gresik, and Lamongan campuses. After Hadhramout University, Taiz University is Yemen’s second university to establish a partnership with UNAIR.

Prof. Dr. Mohammed al-Shuaibi appreciated the warm welcome. “Thank you for welcoming us here, and it is an honor to be here at this university,” he said.

He further explained the profile of Taiz University. “The University of Taiz is known as Yemen’s leading university, and it is ranked 39th in the Arab region. Taiz University has 3,000 students and 1,500 academic members from various disciplines,” Prof. Shuaibi said.

The speech session was followed by an MOU signing, presenting a token of appreciation, and a profile video screening. The meeting was concluded with a photo session at the Balairua plenary hall.
