UNAIR student shares tips on winning international achievement

UNAIR NEWS – To be the best university in Indonesia, Universitas Airlangga needs contributions from all elements. One of them is students’ national and international achievements. Here are some tips for making international achievements from one of UNAIR students.

Genada Asaika, an English Language and Literature student of UNAIR Faculty of Humanities shared tips for making international achievements. She said that international competitions are competitions with participants from at least three countries across the world.

The gold medal winner of the International Invention Competition for Young Moslem Scientists also shared her experiences and challenges in the international competition, particularly from the language and cost.

To join an international competition, Genada continued, the participant should at least master advanced-level of international language. Besides, the cost required to join international competitions is generally more expensive compared to the national ones.

“As it is an international competition, we should carefully use the most appropriate language and formal wording. We can’t use slang phrases or informal abbreviations,” she said.

She noted some benefits from joining international competitions, such as distinctive and challenging experiences, international networks, and recognition. Here are some tips from Genada to win international achievements.

Choosing field of competition

Before joining the competition, the Macedonia Special Awards awardee suggested that the participants should learn about themselves better and determine their fields of interest. It will help focus on the specific field and maximize its full potential.

Thorough prepared

Preparations and practices must be done more intensively. Take more time to practice presentation skills in the essay competitions.

Be confident and unique

Last, participants should present their most creative ideas. “The judges see the uniqueness of our ideas. What makes your idea distinct and stand out from the other teams? It’s very important,” she said.
