NEWS UNAIR – A student of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has made another national achievement. This time, the student of Industrial Engineering of UNAIR, Jinggan Kumalatungga Lani, got a silver medal in the Provincial Student Sports Week (POMPROV) East Java on Saturday, March 26, 2022.
In the national competition, Jinggan competed in Athletics 5000 meters. She admitted that she was happy because she could make her parents, coach, and people around her proud. “I am delighted because I could not compete before, but thanks to God, in 2022, I could take home a silver medal,” she said.
Last time, Jinggan won the Regional Islamic Boarding School Sports and Arts Week (POSPEDA) competition at the Bojonegoro Regency in 2019. That time she represents her school, winning first place for 3000 meters.
Jinggan has been in athletics for more than nine years. Instead of being bored, through her experience, she is even more interested in the field of sports.
Winning the POMPROV silver medal was an unforgettable experience for Jinggan. The Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM) student mentioned that she had been left behind during the competition. “The competition was fierce, so it’s hard to catch up,” she explained.
The moment of the medal ceremony was the most memorable for Jinggan. It was the first time she got a medal and a mascot doll from the POMPROV class competition.
She hopes to continue pursuing her hobby and obtain achievements through this achievement. “I have a long way to go, and this is not the end of my struggle. I want to keep trying to achieve the best achievements that can bring a good reputation to the region, even the university,” she explained.
The Bojonegoro native advised that all students explore their interests and talents during their studies at college. “College is important, but it would be better if we could do activities we enjoyed. It would be better if the activity could be useful for ourselves and those around us,” she mentioned. (*)
