UNAIR NEWS – The Student Executive Board (BEM) of Universitas Airlangga’s Faculty of Pharmacy recently concluded one of its key community outreach programs. As part of the 2025 Pharmashare initiative, the team held a public health service event on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Ngadiwono Village Hall in Tosari Subdistrict, Pasuruan.

This community service project focused on providing free medical check-ups, with an emphasis on serving elderly residents of Ngadiwono Village. The location was chosen due to its limited access to healthcare facilities.

The event began with patient registration and the completion of basic medical records. This was followed by several health assessments, including blood pressure, height, and weight measurements, as well as screenings for blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid levels. Participants then had the opportunity to consult with physicians, receive prescriptions, and speak with pharmacy students to learn more about their medications.

The event ran from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. WIB and involved two doctors and five medical students from UNAIR’s Faculty of Medicine, who conducted the health screenings. Four pharmacy students provided education on proper medication use. The overall goal of the program was to improve public health in Ngadiwono and increase residents’ awareness of preventive care.

The free medical services were met with enthusiasm from the villagers. The event had a positive impact on both the community and the student volunteers. Haikal Azhar, the lead coordinator of Pharmashare 2025, expressed his hope that the event would bring meaningful benefits to the residents.

Alhamdulillah, today’s health screening event went smoothly. It had a positive impact not just on us as students but also on the local community. We hope this initiative will continue to benefit the residents of Ngadiwono,” said Azhar.
