UNAIR NEWS – While the concept of the Industrial Revolution 5.0 continues to advance globally, many communities remain largely unfamiliar with its developments. In some areas, technology’s reach is still limited, raising the risk of misuse. To address this gap, the Community Service Program – Learning with Community (KKN-BBK) Group 6 from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) in Paciran Village, Paciran Subdistrict, Lamongan Regency, launched a program aimed at promoting the responsible use of technology and steering it toward positive outcomes.
The initiative, titled “Bulletin Board 5.0: Smart, Fast, Digital!”, introduced students at MTs Mazra’atul Ulum Paciran to creating bulletin boards (wall magazine) using artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the graphic design platform Canva. The training was held Thursday, July 31, 2025, in the school’s computer laboratory.
According to team leader Yohana Grace Uli Panggabean, the students had not previously received formal lessons on AI or Canva. The KKN-BBK team therefore provided an introduction along with step-by-step tutorials on using the tools effectively.

“This program was a breakthrough for the students, giving them early exposure to AI and Canva. They responded enthusiastically and quickly understood how the digital media they often see online or on social platforms is created,” Panggabean said.
Encouraging constructive technology use
For the bulletin board project, AI and Canva served complementary functions. AI generated ideas, structured articles, and inspired creative content, while Canva enabled students to design layouts, select engaging visual elements, and arrange pages with a professional finish.
Panggabean explained that the skills gained extended beyond producing school publications, noting that these technologies could prepare students to tackle more complex challenges later in life. She also pointed out their potential to open future career paths.
“We explained that both in higher education and in the workplace, AI and Canva can unlock opportunities in fields such as graphic design or data science,” she said.
Promoting optimal use
The program underscored that, despite public debate surrounding AI, proper application can serve as a powerful educational tool. Panggabean and her team encouraged teachers at MTs Mazra’atul Ulum Paciran to continue developing students’ technological proficiency for academic benefit.
“We hope this program will gain more attention and be expanded to reach other students. Introducing these tools can help shape their futures—whether in college or in their careers,” Panggabean concluded.
