UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga students have continuously made international achievements. This time, Putri Nur Fadhilah and Chasita Rafii’atha Fadhila, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) students, have made an international achievement in the Top 11 SDGs Idea Innovation Presentation in the Youth Innovation Forum.

Youth Innovation Forum is a program launched by Global Youth Action. It accommodates the youth to make innovations to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Youths across the world participated in the competition.

The challenges

To UNAIR NEWS, Putri said they faced a financial obstacle in attending the forum. They had to fund themselves while waiting for financial assistance from the faculty. “It was pretty exhausting for us, we had to manage our time for the preparation and our thesis defense exams,” she said.

With the tight schedule and short timeline, she was initially hesitant. However, with great determination, Putri made it to the competition and won The Most Favorite Creative Video.

The innovations

As a veterinary medicine student, she explored a rarely discussed animal issue in SDGs. It captured her interest to stimulate innovation in animal issues.

She came up with BIKOPI (Bioskop Inovasi – Innovation Theater), a mini theater before someone visits a zoo. It plays videos to raise the community’s awareness of animal welfare.

“This needs to be done. As a city grows, most of the community put aside animal welfare. In fact, animal health is equally important for human survival,” Putri said.

Ultimately, she advised her colleagues to be courageous in taking an opportunity or making a decision. They should not focus on winning the competition. The most important part is taking opportunities.

“If your dreams haven’t been achieved yet, don’t change it, change the mindset instead. Successful people will keep trying and maintain consistency. Keep going!” Putri said.
