UNAIR to collaborate with Mahidol University in Medical Engineering

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak, UNAIR Rector, and Prof. Banchong Mahisavariya as the President of Mahidol University signed the MoU on Thursday, April 5, 2023.

UNAIR NEWS – A signing session of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Universitas Airlangga and Mahidol University Thailand took place in the Balairua Plenary Meeting Room, UNAIR Management Office, MERR-C Campus. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak, UNAIR Rector, and other leaders attended the meeting on Thursday, April 5, 2023, joined by Prof. Banchong Mahisavariya as the President of Mahidol University and his staff.

During the meeting, the leaders of the two universities discussed the potential for collaboration, especially in Medical Engineering. University leaders’ remarks opened the meeting, which was also the first collaboration step between Universitas Airlangga and Mahidol University.

“UNAIR is open and supports this collaboration because students from both universities will get a wider learning experience in the future. Furthermore, this collaboration also encourages teaching staff and academics to work together through research, “explained Prof. Nasih in his remarks.

The event continued with a discussion led by Iman Harymawan PhD, the Director of Airlangga Global Engagement. It discussed the potential for student and staff mobilization in the field of Physical Therapy or Engineering, including accelerated study programs, merging degrees, and many more. The potential for cooperation in the field of Medical Engineering, including studies on computer interfaces for the brain, drug delivery systems, magnetism, retina imaging, lignin kraft, and tele-rehabilitation was also discussed.

“Hopefully, the collaboration formed through this memorandum of understanding will be useful. Not only within the scope of both universities but also in both countries, Indonesia and Thailand,” said Prof. Banchong Mahisavariya.

The signing session of the memorandum of understanding started a collaboration with a positive impact. At the end of the event, the two universities gave each other souvenirs which also closed the day’s event.
