UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) welcomed participants of the 37th National Student Science Week (PIMNAS) on Monday, October 14, 2024. More than 118 universities, represented by 525 teams, are participating in this prestigious annual event. Approximately 3,000 students and mentors from across the country, from Aceh to Papua, have arrived. Their arrival at UNAIR’s MERR-C Campus signals the start of this highly anticipated academic competition.
Professor Dr. M. Hadi Subhan, SH, MCHN, UNAIR’s Director of Student Affairs, highlighted PIMNAS as a key event for fostering unity and camaraderie among universities. He expressed optimism that the event will strengthen networks and encourage collaboration among students from various regions in Indonesia. “One of the primary goals of PIMNAS is to promote unity and friendship among universities, regardless of whether they are public or private institutions,” he said.
Preparations
With the official opening of the 37th PIMNAS set for Tuesday, October 15, 2024, UNAIR’s preparations are nearly complete. Prof. Subhan reported that the event is 99 percent ready.
“Our preparations are 99 percent done. We have been overseeing everything daily, and even hourly. These efforts involve multiple parties, including UNAIR’s internal committee, the Supervisory Board of Judges (BPDI), and the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) from the central government,” he said.

The organizing committee continues to conduct final checks to ensure everything runs smoothly. “The remaining one percent is just about execution. Tomorrow, starting at 7 a.m., we will begin preparing for the opening ceremony, poster evaluations, and presentations. We will also hold a final rehearsal to ensure no issues arise during the opening,” Prof. Subhan added.
Registration and Poster Setup
Monday’s primary activities included participant re-registration and the installation of posters. After completing the online registration, participants checked in to confirm their attendance on-site.
“Most participants have arrived and are currently setting up their posters at the sports hall (GOR),” said Prof. Subhan. The poster installation is part of the preparations for evaluations that will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, and Thursday, October 17, 2024. The organizing team will ensure all posters are properly displayed.
With nearly all preparations complete, UNAIR is ready to host the opening of the 37th PIMNAS. This event not only serves as a venue for academic competition but also as an opportunity to strengthen ties and collaboration between universities across Indonesia.
