UNAIR NEWS – The performance of Indonesian universities in global competition is one indicator for the achievement of the Strategic Plan (Renstra) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) for 2020-2024. To accelerate higher education quality, the Ministry, in collaboration with Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), launched Freedom of Learning Episode 21: The Endowment Fund for Higher Education.
“Kemendikbud Ristek in collaboration with LPDP provides funding from the Higher Education Endowment Fund to support Legal Entity State Universities (PTNBH) to become world-class universities. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and LPDP will match the increase in endowment funds in the form of principal funds and raised investments,” said Nadiem Anwar Makarim in a press release from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Monday, June 27, 2022.
Nadiem said that the Higher Education Endowment Program is only given to Legal Entity State Universities (PTNBH) because legally, only PTNBH have the ability and right to manage financial assets independently. Furthermore, Nadiem said that it was one of the supports of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology to encourage universities to become PTN-BH.
“The Higher Education Endowment Program is targeted at PTN-BH as legal entities that can manage financial assets independently. Every PTN-BH must increase its source of income beyond government assistance and single tuition fee,” said Nadiem.
