UNAIR NEWS – The 37th National Student Science Week (PIMNAS) has wrapped up with a vibrant closing ceremony at the Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) on UNAIR’s MERR-C campus. The event took place on Friday evening, October 18, 2024, where awards were presented to the winners of the prestigious competition.

As the host university, UNAIR not only facilitated the event but also actively participated as a contestant. UNAIR succeeded in bringing home ten medals across several categories. In the poster category, UNAIR secured two gold medals in the PKM-KC (Creative Work) and PKM-GFT (Written Futuristic Ideas) schemes. Impressively, this marked the first time UNAIR has won gold in the PKM-KC category.

In a historic achievement, Muhammad Adam Wildan, the leader of the PKM-KC team that earned a gold medal, expressed his pride. Wildan, who led the creation of AUVEST, a cooling vest for laborers and workers, described the achievement as a groundbreaking moment for UNAIR. ” Our gold medal is the first in the PKM-KC field for UNAIR. This is an extraordinary experience for us,” he said. Additionally, a team led by Sirojuddin Kholil Muhammad in the PKM-RE (Exact Science Research) scheme secured a silver medal.

In the presentation category, UNAIR collected an additional seven medals. This includes one gold in the PKM-KC scheme, two silvers in the PKM-RSH (Social Humanities Research) and PKM-RE schemes, and four bronzes in the PKM-K (Entrepreneurship), PKM-KC, and PKM-GFT schemes.

Beyond the medals, two UNAIR students were recognized as Talented Students, an honor bestowed by the Indonesian Talent Development Agency (BPTI) for exceptional student research potential. Mohammad Suma Firman Romadhoni and Fany Zumrotul Faizah were the recipients of this award.

Fany Zumrotul Faizah, who received the Talented Student title in the PKM-RE 2 category, shared her pride in receiving the accolade. She emphasized that the achievement came after significant preparation. “I prepared myself with extensive practice, from public speaking to Q&A sessions. So, when the judges asked questions, I was able to respond comprehensively,” she explained.

With these accomplishments, UNAIR ranked seventh among universities in terms of total medals won at PIMNAS. This strong showing sets the stage for future improvement, particularly at the 38th PIMNAS, scheduled for 2025.
