UNAIR NEWS – Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (BEM FISIP) Universitas Udayana held a national level essay competition to celebrate National Education Day (Hardiknas). The Hardiknas essay competition themed “Optimization of Young Generation’s Role to Golden Indonesia 2045 at Society 5.0 Era” was conducted on 1-17 April 2022.

Dewa Ngakan Made Ari Putra Taman Bali, the student of Sociology study program of Universitas Airlangga managed to win second place on the Hardiknas FISIP Essay Competition. In the interview with UNAIR NEWS on May 19, 2022, Ari explained that he wrote an essay about the death of cultural tourism, especially in Bali.

He also mentioned that the subtheme taken is culture, titled ‘Bali Rasa: Application-Based Solution with Customer Experience implementation as Attempt to Achieve Golden Indonesia 2045’. The essay he wrote provided the solution to the death of cultural tourism, especially in Bali province, by designing a cultural tourism exploration application that weighs ten cultural elements and sustainable tourism principles.

“This will later be an example for cultural tourism stabilization solution in other provinces,” said Ari.

Ari mentioned that the essay was only made in a week, from brainstorming to essay submission. He also stated that he did not expect much because this competition was his first essay writing competition that he won after participating in three individual essay competitions.

“I have participated in five essay competitions, two group, and three individual competitions, but none have successfully made it to Top Three. Finally, on the sixth try, I entered Top Three. Always evaluate every trial’s progress result, fix, and executed wholeheartedly. The most important thing is making the process and trying,” he said.

In the end, Ari emphasized that National Education Day supposes to be a reflecting moment for all students.

“To me, National Education Day is a reflecting moment as a student who must always try to create innovation for the issues we face. For example, I have tried to provide solution to the existing issues by pouring it into the essays,” he concluded. (*)
