UNAIR NEWSUNAIR Library, in collaboration with Wisma Jerman, organized the Deutsch NextGen: “Exploring Exciting Career Opportunities in Germany” on Tuesday, February 27, 3024. The Deutsch NextGen provides information on the working system in Germany for job seekers.

Deutsch NextGen presented Siti Aminah, a Consultant at the German Library in Wisma Jerman. Held in the Parlinah Room at UNAIR Library Campus B Dharmawangsa, she provided explanations regarding career opportunities in Germany.

“Germany is currently importing workforce from third-world countries. Indonesia is one of the countries with opportunities for its residents to apply for jobs there because many companies are opening recruitments,” she explained.

Germany needs a total of 146 thousand workers from third-world countries. The demand to recruit labor will continue until 2060.

“The German government requires 146 thousand professional workers. The substantial demand provides an opportunity for us to seize the available chances,” she expressed.

The main requirement to apply for jobs in Germany is proficiency in the German language at level B1 or C1 (specifically for healthcare workers). If this requirement is fulfilled, one can proceed to submit a job application.

Siti Aminah explained that work quality in Germany is focused more on productivity. Therefore, the work system there is considered very good.

“The average working hours in Germany are 8 hours of work and 30 minutes of break per day for 5 working days. These working hours demand employees to be more productive. Germany is now starting to implement a 4-day workweek system,” she stated.

A shorter workweek does not mean that the workload is considered easy. The work in Germany adheres to international standards. Therefore, Siti Aminah continued, companies in Germany always look for skilled workers with relevant education and experience in the required field.
