Excellent Performance in Education, Rector Receives Award from PWI Gresik

UNAIR NEWS – “Limitations always push and motivate me to keep fighting as best as I can,” said UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, when receiving Giri Pancasuar Awards 2017 from Indonesian Journalist Association of Gresik Regency, Wednesday, March 29.

Giri Pancasuar Awards is an award presented by PWI to best local individuals in Education, Bureaucracy,  Sportainment, and Officials.

The event was held in Gedung Graha Sarana PT. Petrokimia Gresik as a part of the celebration of National Press Day themed “Hoax: Threats to Local harmony and Development”. In the event, Nasih who was born in Gresik received an award as the best local individual with excellent performance and dedication in Education.

“My village is the farthest from Gresik center of town, even my yard next to the house was already in Lamongan regency territory,” he stated. “Those limitations always push and motivate me to keep fighting as best as I can,” said Nasih holding back his tears.

Even after receiving the award, Nasih remained humble. He said that there are many other people out there which have greater performance and dedication.

“Even I received the award, I am not the best individual in Gresik. The judges are always better than the ones being judged, therefore, you are the best,” he stated.

Regarding the grand theme, Nasih said that Gresik tagline as the town of Islamic students should be reflected in their life. He  also added that the culture of Islamic students, ghozob and slanders are forbidden, especially spreading the fake news.

“Islamic students’ culture does not know hoax. Gresik citizen who like hoax should be send out of Gresik,” said Nasih followed with laughters and applause.
