UNAIR NEWS – The Faculty of Public Health Universitas Airlangga held a National Seminar to celebrate the National Conference of Indonesian Public Health Student Senate Organization (ISMKMI) 2017. The seminar, entitled “Answering the President’s 9 Priorities (Nawacita) in The Implementation of Inter Sectorial Preferred Programs towards the Improvement of Welfare and Health Standard in Indonesia”, was attended by no less than 350 students including 232 students from the Faculty of Public Health across Indonesia which were affiliated in the ISMKMI.

“This seminar is open for public. The total number of participants is 350; 232 of them are delegations from public or private universities in Indonesia who are affiliated in ISMKMI,” said Bian Shabri, one of the committee members.

Present as speakers in the event were the Director of BPJS Prof. Dr. dr. Fachmi Idris, M.kes.; Director General of Public Health, Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia Dr. Anung Sugihantono, M.kes.; Secretary General of the Ministry of Rural Area, Development of Lagging Region, and Transmigration Anwar Sanusi, Ph.D.; Chairman of IAMKMI Dr. Ridwan M, Thaha, M.Sc.; Chairman of Persakmi Hanifa M. Denny, SKM., M.PH., Ph.D.; and Chairman of the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) Dr. Surya Chandra Surapaty M.PH., Ph.D.

There were several topics of discussion presented by the speakers. A few of them were delivered by Dr. Anung Sugihantono. Anung explained that paradigm implementation in Indonesia is everyone’s responsibility. The principle is to involve all sectors.

“The paradigm implementation of healthy Indonesia is everyone’s responsibility. The principle we can use is to involve all sectors namely individuals, families, and education. The point is to take care of healthy people and heal the sick ones,” he said.

After Anung, the next lecture was from Anwar Sanusi, Ph.D. In his presentation, Anwar explained about the existing programs in rural ministry and discussed about areas with minimum access to health.

“The Province of Papua is the area with the most difficult access to health. In a matter of doctors’ availability in community health centers, the average number of doctors is only 1/3. Usually there is only 1 doctor in a community health center and often they want to move out after staying for 1 to 3 years,” Anwar concluded.
