UNAIR NEWS – Keeping the spirit alive during holiday, Student Activity Unit (UKM) Bridge Universitas Airlangga won 2nd place in “Gathering and Training with GABSI (Indonesian Bridge United) East Java” event . The achievement was made by Reza Ramadhan R. and Fatur RP on Sunday, July 1 at the WTC (World Trade Center) Surabaya.

Reza revealed that Bridge game is his own desire. According to him, the Bridge game does not have a pattern that is easy to guess. It’s very different from the others, not like the game in general.

“This success is also a result of the team’s readiness from the previous training,” he said.

“There was no obstacles during competition. Yes, we must be ready because, we have also practiced every day. So, we are sure to win, “he added.

However, Reza did not deny the existence of some obstacles during practice. For example, partners who cannot come and misscommunication .

Reza said that they need to have continuous training as the system applied is still the basic.

“Daily practice before the competition is used to discuss ways and play systems. In essence, we often hold practice to work solidly as a team during competition, “said Reza.

Not only about the competition, in the regional scale event, there is also a gathering involving all bridge athletes in Surabaya.

“It’s not just a training ground. Because it is not far from the moment of Eid al-Fitr, this event became a mean for athletes to strengthen ties, “he said.

After the event, Reza acknowledged that there are still some competitions to follow. For example, National championship in Batam and UGM (Universitas Gadjah Mada) Cup. This event can be a mean to evaluation of UKM Bridge as nine representatives have not succeeded all. So, in the future a better performance must be achieved.

“Hopefully from this evaluation, UKM Bridge can still win in every competition. And, the athletes are more active to practice, “he said. (*)
