The competition held online by BEM FISIP Jember University had a similar theme, “Challenges and Opportunities for Indonesia in Industrial Revolution Era 4.0.”
In his writing, Purbo discussed the phenomenon of “Digital Economy” in the community. According to him, the era of digitalisation is developing rapidly so it brings a significant impact on people’s lives, especially, in terms of the economy.
“Indonesia’s large population is believed to be an asset in realizing The Largest Digital Economy of Asia. However, there are still several regions in Indonesia that have poor internet connections, “he said.
Purbo added, there needs to be an even distribution to the regions in the archipelago in terms of development.
“This is the challenges if Indonesia wants to become the king of the Asian digital economy,” he added.
Finally, the moment was arrived. On Saturday, September 1, through a social media account, the committee announced that Purbo’s work came out as the first winner.
The man who likes writing has previously won various writing competitions such as being the Top 7 Finalists of Call for International Accounting Week 2018 Paper and the Third Winner of Article Writing Competition for Investment Coordinating Board.
Although he is experienced, Purbo said that in writing there are always obstacles. For him, the obstacle of writing essays is to find interesting ideas related to the phenomenon that is trending in society. Therefore, he read a lot of news and journals related to the topic.
“Tips for writing a good essay in my opinion is to make sure the idea we present is not made up one. This means that idea must be based on facts with strong theoretical support, ” he explained.
Purbo said that he was interested in joining the competition. Purbo admitted that he was a typical person who was easily attracted to the achievements of others. There is a little jealousy when he saw someone else win a race.
“The problem is how I started it, ” he said.
He found a way to realize his wishes by “forcing yourself” to take part in the competition.
“Although the results were not the best. All I need first is experience. The point is , you won ‘ t ever know unless you give it a try! “ he concluded. (*)
