Introduces Research Sharing Application, Telkom Collaborates with UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga got another cooperation to improve education quality as a part of Indonesian University Tri Dharma. On Wednesday, June 29, UNAIR with PT. Telkom Indonesia Tbk signed the Memorandum of Understanding in Plenary Room, Management Office Building UNAIR. This MoU was made to exploit Telkom and UNAIR potentials.

As a representative of UNAIR, Prof. Ir. M. Amin Alamsjah, M.Si., Ph.D, said that this cooperation with Telkom was in order to develop UNAIR academic activities, especially in information technology.

“Special for IT (information and technology), it is quite a gamble, how far IT can be used better for our academic activity development,” said Vice Rector III UNAIR in his address.

Director E-Business Telkom Muhammad Awaluddin said that the cooperation with UNAIR was based on considerable flows of ideas from the university was considered unique, especially in information technology.

“The importance of this synergy was because of many initiations from university which can be used and developed, also for the campus to implement its University Tri Dharma,” said Awaluddin in his address.

As a part of state owned companies (BUMN), Awaluddin believed that Telkom is also responsible for national education development, especially in information technology. “We can’t stay quiet, we are ready to help for that,” he added.

In that occasion, Awluddin also introduce Telkom networking program called idREN (Indonesian Research and Education Network). He believed that idREN can supported research and learning developments of Indonesian Universities.

“This network is able to provide special channel for research sharing among universities in Indonesia,” he said. “idREN was also expected to be useful for the high officials of universities to improve education quality and university research productivity,” he added.

With this MoU signing, Prof. Amin hoped that it can help UNAIR as a World Class University. “Moreover, we hope that this cooperation can rev the engine of academic activity up, also university holding of Universitas Airlangga,” said Prof. Amin.
