UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga students supported the government in prioritizing micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) in national economic recovery by providing Semar Indonesia platform to help them grow and advance in the digital era.
The innovation was proposed by UNAIR Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) student team: Achmad Khatami, Sukma Jenny Emadina Putri, Athira Salsabila Safitri, Elvina Maslukha Ramadhania, and Pradana Rahman Sahisnu.
Valuing one thousand rupiahs
Semar Indonesia helps the community build a new sustainable economic environment through the value of one thousand rupiahs.
“We want to raise the people’s awareness to value one thousand rupiahs. We believe that communal work (gotong royong), the collected one thousand rupiahs will support the MSEs and the development program at Oemah Semar,” said Achmad Khatami, the group leader.
Idea sparked from class
Semar Indonesia came up from material in class. The material elaboration in class and social reality set an application as the tools for Semar Indonesia.
“One thing to note was how communal work (gotong royong) manages to build an ecosystem. We combined that with the needs in information technology, which mainly lies in mobile phone applications and websites,” he said.
Receives funding
The business idea received the 2022 Student Digital Entrepreneurial Innovation (IWDM) funding under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek).
“We are currently developing our website and business system to meet the target,” said Achmad.
After following a series of monitoring and evaluation, a gala will be held to determine the most excellent result among businesses that receive the funding. He asked for prayers and support to get the prestigious event’s best result.
Sustainable business
Semar Indonesia was expected to create a new ecosystem where one thousand rupiah marks the recovery of SMEs. The team is committed to conducting the project consistently to achieve the goals.
