UNAIR NEWS – The beginning of 2018 is a good moment of collaboration between Faculty of Agribusiness and Commerce, Lincoln University, New Zealand, and Universitas Airlangga Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB). There were 18 students from Faculty of Agribusiness and Commerce, Lincoln University, received by the Dean of FEB UNAIR in Tirto Hall, FEB, Tuesday, January 2. They are students of inbound exchange program who will study at UNAIR for the next two weeks.
Inbound and outbound exchange is one of the internationalization programs promoted by FEB, especially UNAIR in general. For two weeks, participants will get various lessons about economy and culture.
They will visit PT Petrokimia Gresik, PT Phokphan, and PT Pelindo as well as modern and traditional markets in Surabaya. They will have Indonesian class; learn traditional dance; visit Kampung Dolanan, Surabaya; follow social activities in the community; and follow several courses held in class.
“Thank you for the amazing welcome by FEB UNAIR. Hopefully we will get a lot of lessons from here, “said Prof. Dr. Hugh Bigsby, Dean of Faculty of Agribusiness and Commerce, in his speech.
In the welcoming ceremony, there was a Madurese dance performance by FEB students. For the next two weeks, they will also be accompanied by volunteers from students.
“Early last year, we’ve sent three staffs to the Faculty of Agribusiness and Commerce. Now they have summer school programs held every year. FEB UNAIR has been , “said the Dean FEB UNAIR Prof., Dr., Dian Agustia, SE., M.Si., Ak.
Dian hoped that the inbound program could become a medium of knowledge transfer between students of Lincoln University and FEB UNAIR and it is also useful in order to introduce UNAIR to the international sphere. In addition, the program can be routinely implemented.
“Hopefully in the following years, it will be a routine program. We will also routinely held outbound program. It will support UNAIR towards Top 500 World Universities, “Prof. Dian added.
In addition to inbound and outbound exchange programs for staff and students, there is also visiting professor, joint-researches, and several other programs. In 2018, 212 FEB students are recommended to follow the student outbound program. Countries invited for the collaborations are Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Australia.
“We’ve been visiting and doing MoA ( memorandum of agreement , ed ) with universities in those countries for student outbound program this year,” said Prof. Dian. (*)
