UNAIR NEWS – World’s higher education ranking institution Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has finally published its 2022 World University Rankings (WUR) By Subject. In the result announced on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, UNAIR Arts & Humanities is ranked #401-450 globally. The achievement listed UNAIR as the fourth best university for Arts & Humanities subject in Indonesia.
The Dean of Faculty of Humanities UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Purnawan Basundoro, S.S., M.Hum. was pleased with the international achievement. “All the academic community of Faculty of Humanities and I are proud that we make it to the ranking, it also places UNAIR in the fourth rank in Indonesia,” he said.
Upon receiving the achievement, Prof. Purnawan stated that relatively new developed humanities sciences in UNAIR successfully show its ability to compete in the national and international level. There are four indicators of QS WUR by Subject assessment. According to the indicators, the department of arts & humanities has successfully scored high in employer reputation (82.7); academic reputation (64.6), and citations (40.5).
The achievement was an outcome of internationalization program that Faculty of Humanities runs. “One of our massive programs at Faculty of Humanities was to collaborate with our academic peer list overseas which had been worked with us,” expanded the Dean born in Banjarnegara.
Purnawan went on to say that the program proceeded on the international-scale programs application. “For instance, holding international seminars, appointing adjunct professor from Japan, and allowing students from Singapore to conduct postdoctoral projects in the Faculty of Humanities UNAIR,” he said.
In the hope of improving the quality of educations in the Faculty of Humanities, the programs also supported and gave extra points in the 2022 QS WUR assessment.
In the future, Purnawan hopes to maintain the ranking and keep on improving. “We encourage study programs to thrive more in the international scale. Hopefully, it will improve the quality of graduates and the QS ranking by subject which is based on the study programs,” he said.
