2022 QS WUR By Subject, UNAIR Faculty of Law ranked #1 in Indonesia

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Law Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is ranked the first in Indonesia and #101-150 worldwide in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2022 World University Rankings (WUR) By Subject in Law.

According to the Dean of Faculty of Law Universitas Airlangga, Iman Prihandono, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph.D., it is the highest achievement of Faculty of Law UNAIR nearly for the last 70 years since its establishment. “This outstanding achievement puts us on a par with the best Faculties of Law approved by stakeholders in the QS WUR 2022,” he stated.

Alumni Acknowledgement

Iman explained that there are four indicators assessed by QS WUR 2022 to determine the ranking: employer reputation, academic reputation, citations, and h-index. Faculty of Law scored the highest in employer reputation.

“Employer reputation obtained an excellent point because many Faculty of Law UNAIR alumni secured essential roles at national and international levels. The employer satisfaction rate from private and governmental regarding our alumni’s performance quality is also high,” Iman claimed.

Based on the QS WUR 2022 data, Faculty of Law UNAIR scored 81.0 for employer reputation indicator, 63.6 for academic reputation, 62 for citations, and 51.24 for h-index.

“Our biggest strength is the employer reputation. It inspires us to build an effective strategy to get closer with the industries where our alumni work,” Iman said.

Improving collaborations

The Dean stated Faculty of Law will continue to work intensively by collaborating with professional associations of lawyers and notaries, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MA), the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia (Kejaksaan Agung), Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), ministries, private companies, and many more. The Faculty of Law UNAIR will also improve the alumni database, host alumni gatherings, and create alumni platforms to allow the alumni to contribute to legal education.

Iman explained that the faculty will improve its academic reputation, increase citations and h-index. The Faculty of Law UNAIR’s current achievement will be a starting point to provide more benefits for national and international law development. “As the law is constantly developing, the educational institution should also make constant improvement as well,” he stated.
