To respond to the challenges of the 21st century and become more relevant in terms of global reality, the education system requires educational transformation.
“All leaders in the twenty-first century must be able to look forward and prepare for the future. They must have wisdom, think outside the box, and be capable of turning crises and threats into opportunities,” she explained.
“These leaders are not only responsible for the administrative tasks but also anticipate and adapt to the emerging needs of students and educators in the future,” she concluded.
Furthermore, Nany revealed that four pillars must be implemented in visionary educational leadership. Namely, the vision of leadership education must be future-oriented and inclusive and reflect a deep understanding of global change. The mission of an educational leader is to implement this vision with clarity and purpose, maintaining focus amidst the many trends and problems that arise in the field of education and the ability to turn challenges into stepping stones for progress.
Nany also mentioned several characteristics that visionary leaders usually possess. “Ideally, they are service-oriented. They are eager to learn, radiate positive energy, trust others, live in balance, see life as an adventure, collaborate, and work on themselves to accomplish their goals,” she explained.
At the end of the presentation, Nany conveyed the urgency of visionary leaders in educational transformation. Among them are setting an attractive vision, inspiring, and motivating stakeholders, encouraging innovation and adaptability, adapting to technological advances, embracing diversity and inclusion, empowering educators, collaborating and partnerships, and continuous improvement and evaluation.
