UNAIR NEWS – The Master of Management program at Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held a talk show entitled “Sayurpreneurship 4.0” in the Soepoyo Hall, ABC Building, Dharmawangsa-B Campus, UNAIR on Saturday, May 18, 2024. This talk show highlighted the importance of improving skills in digital transformation for vegetable sellers.
The talk show themed “Digitalization Strategies for Vegetable Sellers,” featured three speakers: Budiyono, a traditional vegetable seller; Rico Satria Chandra, founder and CEO of Aratamart.id; and Dr. Gancar Candra Premananto SE MSi, lecturer at the Master of Management department.
The event began with a report from the Chief Organizer, Aldo Suyoso. In his presentation, Aldo emphasized the importance of contributing to mutual benefit. “Our contribution is to create mutual benefits. So, it’s not only the speakers or students who benefit, but everyone involved in this event,” Aldo explained.
How vegetable sellers survive
Budiyono explained that he has been selling vegetables for 25 years.He believes the key to success in maintaining his business is maintaining quality. “I’ve been selling vegetables from 1999 until now, which is 25 years. I have always maintained quality, and that’s why I’m still here,” he said.

“What differentiates Aratamart from others is that customers can order later in the evening, and they can also make requests according to their preferences. We also have an admin who can build relationships with customers, making it easy to order,” he explained.
Importance of digitalization
In his presentation on marketing, Gancar explained the importance of digitalizing vegetable sales. According to him, without digitalization, vegetable sellers will be left behind. “If vegetable sellers don’t enter the digital world, they will be left behind. Since the pandemic, everyone has worked using only their thumbs, including buying vegetables,” he said.
He added that it is important to use smartphones because it can be an opportunity to develop a business. “So take advantage of our cellphones to not only use social media but also to develop our business and generate profit,” he added.
In conclusion, Gancar mentioned applying the principle of low budget high impact by expanding networks as much as possible. “Apply low budget high impact. The more we develop and expand our network, the more opportunity to generate creative ideas on a low budget,” he concluded.
