UNAIR NEWS – The Japanese Language and Literature Program from the Faculty of Humanities (FIB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) took part in Habatake 2025, an event dedicated to Japanese education and culture. Organized by the Consulate General of Japan in Surabaya, the event aims to accommodate the increasing interest among Indonesians, particularly young people, for the Japanese language and culture. This year’s Habatake 2025 was held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at SMAN 1 Malang.

Habatake 2025 featured a wide range of activities, including seminars, educational booths, and competitions designed to test participants’ knowledge of Japanese language and culture. The event welcomed participants from various backgrounds, including high school students from across East Java, Japanese literature programs from multiple universities, and representatives from other Japanese educational institutions.

UNAIR’s Japanese Language and Literature Program hosted an interactive booth showcasing shodō (Japanese calligraphy) and tanzaku (short wishes written on paper and hung on bamboo trees). The booth attracted significant interest from visitors eager to experience these traditional Japanese arts firsthand.

In addition to the cultural exhibition, UNAIR students participated in a Japanese-language essay competition, achieving impressive results. Kanessa Ade Fahrani secured first place, while Rifqi Namiroh Ash Sholihah finished second, highlighting the strong academic foundation provided by UNAIR’s Japanese Language and Literature Program and the dedication of its students in refining their linguistic and analytical skills.

Beyond its educational purpose, Habatake 2025 served as a platform to deepen cultural ties between Indonesia and Japan. The event not only fostered greater appreciation for Japanese traditions but also provided participants with valuable learning experiences. Moving forward, Habatake is expected to continue playing a vital role in enhancing cross-cultural exchanges and strengthening the bond between both nations.
