UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR) formally inaugurated six new professors on Thursday, April 24, 2025. UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, M.T., Ak., C.A. emphasized that attaining the title of professor represents the highest academic honor, making the inauguration a significant scholarly milestone. He also urged the academic community to reflect on and draw wisdom from the occasion.

In his address, Prof. Nasih underscored the importance of prioritizing health, describing it as a form of gratitude toward the Creator. He linked this message to the research fields of the newly appointed professors, noting their vital contributions to public health.

“Our professors today have presented impressive alternatives in the health domain, including the benefits of red ginger consumption, bioactive compounds in sea cucumbers, and the importance of a balanced nutritional intake. Their work also addresses maternal mortality prevention and holistic patient care,” he said.

Prof. Nasih stressed that the true measure of a professor’s work lies in its real-world impact. “A professor’s value is ultimately judged by the usefulness and influence of their research. Our primary responsibility is to ensure that our academic publications result in meaningful improvements for society,” he stated.

He also encouraged professors to turn their research into practical innovations. As a prominent university, UNAIR should lead the way in developing products that benefit the public directly—ensuring academic discoveries extend beyond theory and into practice.

Prof. Nasih concluded by acknowledging the individuals who contributed to the professors’ academic achievements. He highlighted that reaching such a distinguished position is rarely a solo effort. “Attaining the title of professor is a collective journey—supported by peers, colleagues, family, and many others. No one succeeds entirely on their own,” he remarked.
