UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) officially inaugurated six new professors, adding to the ranks of the Faculty of Medicine. The Professorial Inauguration Ceremony, held on Thursday (May 22, 2025), featured presentations from the newly inaugurated professors, each of whom shared research breakthroughs and policy recommendations in the field of health. UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, MT, Ak, CA, expressed deep gratitude for what he described as an extraordinary academic achievement.
The inauguration ceremony also served as an academic forum. In his opening remarks, Prof. Nasih encouraged attendees to learn from the professors’ scholarly contributions. He emphasized the ongoing health challenges facing both Indonesia and the global community and highlighted the professors’ insights as essential guidance in addressing those issues.
“Indonesia still faces serious public health problems, from high disease prevalence to the emergence of new illnesses. We are thankful for the alternative solutions and recommendations our professors have shared—solutions that can benefit both Indonesia and the world,” said Prof. Nasih.

Applying knowledge and making impacts
Prof. Nasih stressed that the professors’ recommendations should lead to concrete action. He noted that scholars must not stop at offering ideas but should also ensure their work is translated into practical, impactful solutions.
“We must turn these recommendations into real-world products or outcomes that benefit humanity. True intelligence isn’t just about making discoveries—it’s about applying them effectively.”
He added that every professor’s goal should be to generate meaningful societal impact. The challenge now, he said, is to create a university culture that prioritizes results. Realizing that vision, he added, will require collaboration across various sectors to achieve the most effective outcomes.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Nasih called on all professors to deepen their contributions to society, assuring them that UNAIR is fully committed to supporting their efforts. He also expressed appreciation for the individuals who supported the professors on their academic journey, recognizing that such milestones are rarely achieved alone.
