UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga Hospital (RSUA) partnered with the Yun-Lin Branch of National Taiwan University Hospital to host an international workshop on Wednesday (Oct. 5, 2025). The event, held at the Dharmawangsa Hall on RSUA’s MERR-C Campus, focused on strategies to overcome the growing challenges posed by infectious diseases.
Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Community Development, Prof. Muhammad Miftahussurur, warmly welcomed the delegation from NTU Hospital Yun-Lin Branch. In his remarks, he noted that the workshop reflects the ongoing collaboration between NTU and UNAIR and emphasized the importance of sustaining and accelerating future joint initiatives.
“The partnership between Universitas Airlangga Hospital and NTU is long-standing. With the foundation already in place, ensuring the continuity of this collaboration is the next essential step,” he said.
Strengthening sustainable collaboration
He underscored that the international workshop is designed to promote knowledge exchange, build capacity, and support long-term cooperation. He encouraged participants from both institutions to use the opportunity to share insights, particularly on infectious disease management, which remains a major challenge for healthcare professionals.
“I also want to express my deepest appreciation to all organizers involved, both from Universitas Airlangga Hospital and NTU Hospital Yun-Lin Branch. I hope this forum not only strengthens our knowledge but also expands our professional networks,” he said.
Role of healthcare professionals
The workshop also highlighted the vital role of healthcare workers as the frontline defenders against infectious diseases. He encouraged young doctors in attendance to learn from the research and case studies presented by the speakers.
“Do not hesitate to ask questions or initiate discussions. That is exactly what the organizers and facilitators of this international workshop hope to see. I wish you a meaningful learning experience and encourage you to stay engaged until the end,” he concluded.
He also urged participants to contribute actively throughout the event, both by sharing ideas and by building personal connections, so that the collaboration between the two universities extends beyond institutional agreements and continues through the individuals involved.
