UNAIR NEWS – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held the main celebration of its 54th anniversary on Friday (January 10, 2026). Under the theme One Spirit, One Commitment, One Impact, the event underscored FKH UNAIR’s dedication to being an academic institution that not only excels in scholarship but also delivers measurable benefits to the community.

The anniversary’s flagship program took place from morning through midday, featuring a range of activities including formal ceremonies, a talk show, networking sessions, and a guided campus tour. FKH UNAIR also organized sales booths and offered medical check-up (MCU) services as part of its direct outreach to both the academic community and the public.

Anniversary theme highlights unity and public benefit

The theme One Spirit, One Commitment, One Impact reflects the belief that an institution’s size or reputation holds little value without concrete contributions. A strong sense of unity and mutual support continues to guide FKH UNAIR in pursuing shared goals, particularly in addressing challenges related to animal health and livestock development.

Through its 54th anniversary, FKH UNAIR reaffirmed the role of veterinary medicine as a discipline capable of responding to real societal needs. The celebration was further strengthened by a partnership with the Bojonegoro Regency Government to establish a community development village, signaling a long-term commitment to public service.

UNAIR reinforces commitment to community engagement

UNAIR’s Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Maftuchah Rochmanti, M.D., M.Kes., expressed hope that FKH UNAIR would continue to produce graduates who are not only professionally capable but also socially and environmentally responsible. “We expect FKH UNAIR to keep nurturing graduates who excel academically while remaining attentive to community and environmental issues,” she said.

In line with that vision, the 54th anniversary served as a reminder that UNAIR aims to be more than a reactive institution, positioning itself instead as a strategic partner in community development. The event was organized around a shared commitment to delivering sustainable impact through education, research, and community service.

Talk show and institutional reflection

The anniversary celebration also featured a talk show covering strategic topics such as entrepreneurship, animal health policy, and the treatment of small animal diseases. One of the speakers, Dr. Pujo Harmadi, DVM, M.P., stressed the importance of applying knowledge in real life. “Knowledge is not meant to be memorized alone, but to be used for the benefit of others,” he said.

Marking more than five decades of progress, FKH UNAIR also announced plans to publish a commemorative book ahead of its 55th year. The publication is intended to document the faculty’s journey, serve as a reflective record, and preserve its legacy for future generations. The event concluded with a traditional tumpeng cutting ceremony led by the Dean of FKH UNAIR, symbolizing gratitude for the faculty’s achievements and continued contributions.
