UNAIR inaugurates five new professors, Rector highlights real-world impact in health sciences

UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has officially appointed five new professors during an inauguration ceremony held on Thursday (January 22, 2026), at Garuda Mukti Hall, the Management Office of UNAIR’s MERR-C Campus. The event carried the theme of applying scientific knowledge alongside medical and physiological innovation, with core research areas focused on disease prevention, the improvement of bodily functions, and efforts to enhance overall quality of life.

During the ceremony, the newly inaugurated professors delivered scientific addresses that reaffirmed UNAIR’s position as a leading academic institution, one that not only emphasizes teaching, but also prioritizes research excellence and community engagement.

In his remarks, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, SE, MSi, MFin, underscored the university’s commitment to advancing evidence-based research and innovation that produce tangible benefits, particularly for public health.

“From initiatives to detect and treat rare diseases in infants, to advancing knowledge on lifestyle patterns and metabolic disease prevention, developing locally produced vaccines to strengthen public health, and pioneering neural tissue engineering to restore bodily function,” he said.

Prof. Madyan further emphasized UNAIR’s long-term commitment to developing highly capable human resources who contribute meaningfully to national development. He noted that the professorial title represents not only personal achievement, but also institutional recognition of academic expertise and an ongoing responsibility to generate impactful scholarly work.

“Both newly appointed professors and those who have served for years must recognize that, in line with Ministerial Regulation of Higher Education, Science, and Technology No. 52 of 2025, this academic rank demands continuous improvement across the Three Pillars of Higher Education. This is essential to meeting faculty performance indicators,” Prof. Madyan explained.

  4. Prof. Dr. Dominicus Husada, dr., DTM&H, MCTM(TP), SpA, Subsp. IPT, CTH®

    Field: Vaccine-ventable Diseases
