UNAIR NEWS – Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) collaborated with Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) to organize a social service activity by distributing 1,000 basic food packages. The activity, held to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijri, took place at the Lobby of Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), MERR-C Campus UNAIR, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The assistance was specifically intended as an appreciation for supporting staff such as cleaning personnel who work with full dedication to maintain the campus environment. In addition, the distribution also reached residents in eight sub-districts surrounding the campus. This activity is expected to provide tangible benefits while strengthening social ties.
Increasing social awareness
The Rector of UNAIR, Prof Dr Muhammad Madyan SE MSi MFin expressed high appreciation for the social care initiative initiated by DWP. According to him, this step is highly aligned with the meaning of the Dharma Wanita hymn, which emphasizes the value of service. “This activity reflects a very high level of social awareness and is a real form of care for the community,” he stated.
He also expressed his gratitude for BNI’s dedication in establishing cooperation in various activities such as the distribution of social assistance for approximately 10 years. Considering the current global economic conditions filled with conflicts and triggering inflation, the presence of this assistance is considered very important. “The current economic condition is highly dependent on energy, the impact of which is felt in market prices. Therefore, social assistance like this is very crucial for community welfare, and we hope it can continue to increase,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, Prof. Madyan emphasized the important role of wives and single mothers behind the success of institutions and families. He also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to continuously creating impact. “We hope this event will continue in line with the spirit of Universitas Airlangga Impactful. Alhamdulillah, this impact is proven by UNAIR’s position as number one in Indonesia for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings,” he stated.
