UNAIR NEWS – As part of the Airlangga Movement for SDGs
Awareness (AMORA), a program aimed at raising awareness of the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the SDGs Center at
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) hosted the SDGs Ambassador Final. The event was held in the Candradimuka Room on the 9th floor of the GKB Building, MERR-C Campus, on Friday (July 11, 2025).
The final round brought together ten finalists from various faculties, each presenting ideas on SDG-related challenges and offering sustainable solutions. The event was attended by Hakim Zulkarnain, S.Kep., Ns., MSN, Secretary of the UNAIR SDGs Center, who noted in his remarks that this was the second time the competition had been held at UNAIR.
“This SDGs Ambassador final is being held for the second time at UNAIR, with the aim of selecting student representatives. These ambassadors will later help introduce and promote SDGs within the student community,” he said.
A key channel for SDGs awareness
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) extend beyond
institutional targets, representing both national and global priorities. In this context, Zulkarnain emphasized that SDGs ambassadors play a key role in communicating these goals to the wider community.
“To ensure national targets are achieved effectively, there must be individuals who actively share information about SDGs. These
ambassadors will help raise awareness, making SDGs a central focus in student activities,” Zulkarnain explained.
Advancing to the national stage
The journey for the SDGs Ambassador finalists continues beyond the campus level. Zulkarnain stated that selected finalists will proceed to a national selection process organized by the National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS), representing UNAIR at the national level.
“Today’s finalists will move forward as representatives and will be evaluated by BAPPENAS, which is also responsible for selecting national SDGs ambassadors. UNAIR will be part of that process, so I encourage all finalists to give their best effort,” Zulkarnain said.
In closing, he offered encouragement to the participants. “Best of luck to all SDGs Ambassador finalists. May today serve as a meaningful step toward achieving sustainable development goals and becoming outstanding representatives,” he concluded.
