UNAIRNEWS – The Community Service Team of Chemistry Department and the Proteomics Research Group at the PUI-PT Research Center for Bio-Molecule Engineering (BIOME) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) organized a socialization event on the XFeedZyme application on Saturday, September 12, 2026. This event, which targeted the Livestock Farmers’ Association in Gandusari Subdistrict, Blitar Regency, was aimed to improve the productivity of local chicken farms. This event also involved lecturers and students of the Chemistry Department from UNAIR, young researchers from Higher Education Center of Excellence (PUI-PT) BIOME UNAIR, and PT Pupuk Kujang as the representative of industry.

XFeedZyme is a product of local consortium enzymes which are specifically formulated to improve the digestibility of poultry feed. This innovation was produced at the Excelzyme Teaching Industry, PUI-PT BIOME UNAIR and has been used by dozens of farmers in various cities across East Java.

This socialization event represented a concrete step by academics to support capacity-building for small to medium-scale farmers, especially in addressing the challenges posed by surging feed prices and efforts to increase crop yields. Through this event, participants received comprehensive training ranging from the introduction to feed technology, instructions of how to use XFeedZyme, and practical solutions to solve everyday farming challenges.

Prof Dr dr Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih MSi, the speaker, explained the crucial role of enzymes in the livestock industry. She presented concrete evidence of the effectiveness of XFeedZyme application which has been tested on chicken farms.

“The use of XFeedZyme in the field has been proven to improve the efficiency of feed nutrient absorption, resulting in faster growth of chickens and better Food Conversation Ratio (FCR),” Prof Puspaningsih explained.

The material was continued with a more interactive session by the other members of the Community Service Team, Dr Ali Rohman and Fatiha Khairunnisa MSi, who directly answered the participants’ questions. The enthusiasm was seen at the discussion session, where the farmers actively sought information regarding the technical guidelines of XFeedZyme application and solutions to barn management in the area of Gandusari Subdistrict. The event concluded with the distribution of XFeedZyme product sample to the participants.

The involvement of academics in this socialization event was a manifestation of synergy between universities, industries, and the communities. This collaborative effort not merely facilitated a platform to exchange information between researchers and field practitioners, but also served as a catalyst for UNAIR applied research in supporting the achievement of national food security and the improvement of Indonesian farmers’ well-being.
