UNAIR NEWS –  Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) once again emphasized its commitment to community empowerment through the assisted village community service program. Held in Pesen Village, Kanor District, Bojonegoro Regency on Saturday (October 17, 2026), this program focused on duck farmers empowerment, ranging from local feed management until the making of salted egg demonstration.

The leader of UNAIR FKH Community Service Team, drh Suryo Kuncorojakti MVet PhD, stated that Kanor District has been designated as the primary target area of UNAIR FKH’s community outreach. On this program, a number of 25 members of the community service team were deployed simultaneously across several locations, including Pesen, Tejo, Sedeng, and Palembon Village.

drh Suryo emphasized that the presence of UNAIR team aims to share knowledge and distribute higher education institutions’ research outcomes so that they provide a direct impact for the residents. This aligns with the Three Pillars of Higher Education Institutions, which encompass education, research, and community service.

“Through this community service program, we are transferring the knowledge developed on campus down to the community. We want to provide processing skills for duck meat and eggs so that they have a higher value and a longer shelf life when production is abundant,” said drh Kuncorojakti.

Furthermore, drh Kuncorojakti added that this program initiated by UNAIR FKH is not stopping here, but they are ready to provide continuous assistance for the duck farmers of Pesen Village. “Ladies and gentlemen, if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to let us know. God willing, we are ready to prepare a team to assist Pesen Village,” he said.

Deep appreciation came from the Head of Pesen Village, Agus Saputra SAP. He expressed his gratitude for the presence of UNAIR FKH academics who provided technical and new knowledge to his residents, particularly the prospective recipients of the duck farming assistance program.

“We are very grateful for the presence of the UNAIR team. The presence of these academics is very strategic and helpful to educate our residents so that the assistance they receive later can be managed optimally,” he said.

Furthermore, Saputra explained that Pesen Village has received an allocation for a duck assistance program for twenty Beneficiary Families (KPM). He hopes that the provision of feed management material and processed product training, such as salted eggs, will have a direct impact on the community’s economy.

“We hope that this feed management and processed product training can run sustainably. May this become new knowledge and an additional source of income to improve the economic well-being of Pesen Village residents,” he concluded.

Following the materials presentation, the participants, consisting of Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) administrators and local residents, were also invited to engage in hands-on practice, including a demonstration of salted egg making. High enthusiasm was felt by the participants, including the Head of Pesen Village PKK, Nandi Sulekhatul Rahmawati.

Rahmawati expressed her deep gratitude and felt greatly helped by the presence of UNAIR FKH community service team in her village. According to her, the material given was highly applicable and provided new knowledge for local residents.

“We are very happy for the knowledge and assistance from the UNAIR team. Earlier, we can engage in the hands-on practice of salted egg and animal feed making. God will, this knowledge will be shared to the community,” said Rahmawati.

She hopes that the UNAIR’s assistance program will continue in the upcoming years with an even richer variety of training programs to empower PKK women in Pesen Village.

This community service program supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through improving food security and strengthening the community’s economy based on local potential.
