UNAIR NEWS – Francis Bacon once stated, “The ultimate goal of knowledge is to serve and improve human life.” This saying underscores the importance of applying knowledge to enhance community welfare. Inspired by this principle, students from Universitas Airlangga’s (UNAIR) BBK 5 group organized a digital marketing workshop for members of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) group in Belik Village, Trawas Subdistrict, Mojokerto Regency. The event, held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, was aimed at empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the area.

Tutik Rahayu, the head of the PKK group, expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm for the initiative. She remarked that the workshop was highly valuable and provided the community with practical knowledge to enhance local MSMEs.

With Belik Village showing significant potential for MSME growth, the BBK 5 students decided to focus their workshop on creating digital content. They demonstrated how to utilize social media platforms and e-commerce tools—particularly TikTok Shop—to capitalize on the ongoing digital transformation.

Since many local MSME owners are members of the PKK group, the program involved collaboration with village officials and PKK leaders. Brigitta Olivia, the project coordinator, explained, “Previously, MSME owners in Belik Village were reluctant to register their businesses on e-commerce platforms because they didn’t know how to navigate online selling.”

She continued, “I hope this workshop inspires MSME owners to grow their small businesses. MSMEs are a vital driver of the national economy, and their development is crucial for broader economic progress.”

The workshop also explored the opportunities available to MSMEs that register their businesses on TikTok Shop. Participants were presented with case studies of business owners who successfully expanded their enterprises using the platform. However, some participants expressed concerns about the lack of resources to handle potential increases in orders once they transitioned to online sales.

Despite these challenges, the attendees remained highly engaged throughout the session. Many posed thoughtful questions about MSME operations and e-commerce strategies. As a token of appreciation, the BBK team presented small gifts to the most active participants, encouraging further involvement in the digital marketing space.
