UNAIR NEWS – The Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Universitas Airlangga held the 7th International Symposium of Public Health (ISOPH). The event was held at the Swiss Belinn Hotel Surabaya, on October 2 to 3, 2023.
Dr. Hari Basuki Notobroto dr MKes, Head of the Doctoral Program in Public Health Universitas Airlangga, stated that the symposium focuses on addressing public health aspects post-pandemic. It explored the theme of International Conference Strengthening the Health System by Encouraging Community Independence to Improve Public Health Status in Society 5.0.
Several keynote speakers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, and Australia were featured in the event. Participants also came from various countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Yemen, and Gambia. The event featured speakers from the East Java Provincial Health Office and the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.
“We are focusing on the post-pandemic era due to many inadequate treatments during the pandemic. This study follows the development towards Society 5.0,” he said.
Researcher Collaboration Network
The 7th ISOPH focuses on both scientific studies and networking. The Public Health students also took part in creating new collaboration opportunities.
The doctoral students are encouraged to participate in such symposiums so that they can conduct international collaborative research. The event will also strengthen the relationship between the master’s and doctoral students in Public Health with their counterparts in various countries.
“The number of participants has reached 145 people. It’s a great opportunity to connect,” he said.
The goal
The 7th ISOPH aims to accommodate a scientific forum, exchanging ideas and information in the field of Public Health. The symposium aims to encourage discussion, exchange insights on scientific issues, and stay aligned with technological advancements in the realm of public health.
“Hopefully, this initiative will contribute significantly to the growth of knowledge and public health studies,” he hoped.
