UNAIR NEWS Universitas Airlangga students once again achieved their accomplishment. This good news was brought by Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) students in a Business Case Competition (BCC) that successfully won 3rd place. This competition was organized by HMJM FEB Universitas Jenderal Soedirman on Thursday, August 9, 2026 at UNSOED, Purwokerto, Central Java.

The team named EMTI SLAYER consisted of three Information Systems Study Program undergraduates. The three of them are Javier Elsyera (2023), Pilemon Barimbing (2023), and Raesutha Arya (2023). They initiated a brilliant concept titled GAS STRATEGY.

GAS STRATEGY innovation is an acronym for Gerakan Akselerasi Sustainability bagi Hotel Mitra untuk Menciptakan Ekosistem Green Hospitality yang Berkelanjutan. This innovation was conceived in response to a case study involving RedDoorz, one of Indonesia’s largest tech-based hotel management platforms.

“RedDoorz has around 4.300 independent hotel partners and acts as a bridge for the customer and the hotel. On the other hand, these hotel partners need to adopt green technology which not all of them have implemented yet. RedDoorz does not want to burden partners with various commission deductions or raise prices for customers,” said Elsyera, the team leader.

Consequently, they initiated GAS STRATEGY innovation that includes Green Loyalty Loop, Audit Incentive Tiering, and Sustainable ESCO Financing. “First, we provide a solution by contracting with Sustainable ESCO Financing to collaborate with ESCO through a shared savings scheme in order to support efficient energy investment without upfront capital.

Then, we provide evaluation through Audit Incentive which is an Energy Score based on PMT & IoT as the basis for commission incentive for energy-efficient hotels,” he said.

This audit was divided into five tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Platinum, which are determined by each partner hotel’s electricity consumption. Furthermore, this audit automatically gives Green Stamp as a loyalty customer program to boost demand for Green Hotel. Customers can also reap the benefit from collecting stamps to get a discount for upcoming hotel bookings.

At first, Javier and his team never expected to be able to bring home a trophy in their first competition. According to him, it was a priceless and unforgettable experience. Especially when they had to pull it together under a tight deadline in this competition.

EMTI SLAYER also shared a message for other fellow students to not be afraid to give a try and never give up. “We hope that this idea can be applied across many sectors, ranging from companies and local communities, and can reduce carbon emission that affects the environment. Not only in Indonesia, but also in the whole wide world,” he concluded.
