UNAIR NEWS – Asian Journal of Accounting Research (AJAR) has succeeded in being indexed as a Scopus Q2 journal. It was conveyed by Iman Harymawan SE MBA PhD, editor-in-chief of the AJAR, in an interview on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

The lecturer in Department of Accounting at Universitas Airlangga said that AJAR, from the beginning, had aimed for international publications since it was first published in 2016. To realize this, AJAR collaborated with Emerald Group Publishing as a publisher for this journal.

“At that time, my team discussed and suggested we collaborate with international publisher. And the publisher we worked with was Emerald,” said Iman.

He said that from this collaboration with international publisher, AJAR gained international visibility. “Many editors and educators from abroad have signed up to become editors at the AJAR. From there, finally, there are many choices for journal managers,” said Iman.

AJAR currently has 12 associate editors, 2 international editorial advisory boards, and 23 consulting editors who are not only from Indonesia but also from Brunei Darussalam, England, United States, Bahrain, Turkey, Malaysia, etc.

Moreover, in 2019, AJAR also registered to the ABDC (Australian Business Deans Council), a council consisting of business schools in Australia. “From there, we gained acknowledgment. More and more people are submitting to our journals,” said Iman.

This AJAR journal does not only accept articles from the scope of Accounting, but also from Finance as it is the pattern of international journal publications. “The main topic is still Accounting and the sub-core is finance,” explained Iman.

AJAR is currently trying to maintain the quality of publication amid the increasing number of published articles. “That’s why we have a strategy. Now the conference that we hold is not being developed in Indonesia,” explained Iman. This year, the AJAR conference will be held in Bahrain with Ahlia University as the host of the conference.

At the end of the interview, Iman hoped that AJAR Journal will become an accounting journal referred by world researchers for studies on Asia. “So, if you want to study accounting Asian countries or developing countries, one of the main reference journals is AJAR,” he concluded.
