UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to broaden its global reach through international partnerships. This effort was marked by a visit from the Argentine Ambassador to Indonesia, Gustavo Ricardo Coppa, on Thursday, December 12, 2024. Prof. Muhammad Miftahussurur, M.D., M.Kes., SpPD-KGEH, Ph.D., FINASIM, Vice Rector for Internationalization, Digitalization, and Information, warmly welcomed the Ambassador on Thursday, December 12, 2024. The meeting, held in the Balai RUA Room at UNAIR’s MERR-C Campus, focused on fostering collaborations between UNAIR and Argentina.
Academic relevance
During the discussion, Prof. Miftah invited Ambassador Gustavo to deliver guest lectures at UNAIR, citing his expertise in international law. The Ambassador’s background aligns with UNAIR’s academic programs, including a course on South America within the International Relations curriculum.
“At UNAIR, we have both Law and International Relations programs,” Prof. Miftah said. “We would be honored to host you as a guest lecturer. Our Faculty of Law is the top-ranked in Indonesia, and our International Relations program is also one of the best in the country,” he added.
Future initiatives
Prof. Miftah also outlined UNAIR’s interest in establishing a “Latin Corner,” recognizing the presence of South American delegations in Jakarta.
“This initiative would be highly engaging, and we hope to establish the Latin Corner with your support,” Prof. Miftah remarked. “It could also pave the way for developing Spain Studies in the future,” he suggested during the discussion.
Ambassador Gustavo expressed a strong interest in collaborating with UNAIR. “I hope UNAIR will form partnerships with Argentina, particularly with our universities. One of the world’s leading universities is based in Argentina,” the Ambassador said.
He also encouraged UNAIR to build connections with at least three Argentine universities. “I look forward to seeing UNAIR initiate visits and partnerships with at least three universities in Argentina,” he stated.
The Ambassador assured UNAIR of his full support, including ensuring safe travel arrangements for future visits to Argentina or other Latin American countries.
