UNAIR NEWS – Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation and Alumni Affairs (DPKKA) UNAIR held Airlangga Entrepreneur Club (AEC) which discussed creative content-business. The activity was held online via Zoom Meeting and DPKKA Youtube on Saturday, March 30, 2024, and invited Hagar Bambang, a content creator and account executive from Kompas.
Hagar explained that before going further into content-preneur, participants need to know about content, content creation and content creator definitions. He defined content as any form of photo, video, writing or anything that will be publicly consumed in the media, while content creation is the process of creating it.
“So content is all the photos, videos, podcasts, or anything that becomes public consumption. Content creation itself is the creation of content that ends up being published on social media. Finally, content creators are the actors or makers of content creation,” said Hagar on March 30, 2024.
Content creator and influencer
He said that anyone can be a content creator, but not everyone pays attention to the niche. Niche, he continued, is a specific target market for content and it is important to pay attention to it when creating content.
“Niche is content with a specific target market, and all content needs to have a target market,” he said.
He added that a content creator is usually also an influencer because their content is influencing others. Influencers are divided into five categories based on the number of followers on a social media platform. In general, influencers charge advertising rates for product content as a form of their content business.
“There are five categories of influencers based on the number of followers, namely nano for ten thousand followers, micro in the range of ten thousand to one hundred thousand, mid-tier in the range of one hundred thousand to five hundred thousand and mega at one million and above,” he added.
Things to consider in content creation business
He also said that people who do business through content are often referred to as creatorpreneurs. Once someone has decided to become a creatorpreneur, there are several things they need to do. First, have a clear target market. That way, the consumers who come will be more precise and greater in number.
“The more specific the target market, the better. That way, when people are looking for content, they know where to go,” he said.
Second, establish a clear strategy and plan to achieve the goal. One way is to create a content calendar. That way, a creatorpreneur can take regular steps to achieve the goal.
However, a creatorpreneur should not repost because it can reduce the audience reach. “Look for inspiration from different content creators, be it trends or hot topics, don’t repost other people’s content,” he explained.
Finally, he advised a creatorpreneur to start developing their personal branding on their social media. Even if they don’t have a product to promote. This is to increase the market segment when their product has just appeared. “Because if you start it and one day you have a product, your market segment already exists,” he explained.
