UNAIR NEWS – A total of 19 students from the Business Department Faculty of Vocational Studies Universitas Airlangga carried out a community service activity. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur as part of Academic Visit and Cultural Exchange Program 2025. It took place on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru Kuala Lumpur Malaysia as a form of social engagement and effort to strengthen connections among students across countries.
The program began with all participants gathering in the hall of Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru. During the session, students received a brief introduction to the mosque and its role as center for worship and community activities. Participants were then divided into several working groups to carry out structured cleaning activities across the mosque area.
Student solidarity through community service
Universitas Airlangga and Universiti Kuala Lumpur students worked together to clean various facilities within the mosque, including the prayer hall, Qur’an reading room classrooms, restrooms, ablution areas and supporting spaces. Strong enthusiasm, interactions during activity fostered a sense of togetherness, mutual assistance and strengthened tolerance among students from different cultural backgrounds.
After the cleaning activity, all participants gathered again for shared lunch. During this moment, interactions grew through casual conversations and exchange of cultural experiences. One notable moment occurred when students compared and mentioned names of traditional snacks from Malaysia and Indonesia, creating a lively and friendly atmosphere.

One Universitas Airlangga student said the activity provided a memorable experience. “Through this community service, we not only learned about social responsibility but also experienced togetherness with students from other countries. This activity was enjoyable and provided an unforgettable international experience,” the student said.
Through activity, students not only contributed to the surrounding environment but also gained valuable experience in building social awareness, teamwork and cross-cultural understanding. Community service became a meaningful part of Academic Visit and Cultural Exchange Program 2025, with the expectation of enriching international experience and strengthening collaboration between universities.
