UNAIR NEWS – The Student Legislative Council (DLM) of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) together with the Ministry of Student Advocacy and Welfare (ADKESMA) of Student Executive Board (BEM) UNAIR, organized a Forum Teman Advokasi (Advocacy Friends Forum) aimed to gather student aspirations and develop the direction for future advocacy efforts. This forum took place at GKB 202, MERR-C Campus, on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Forum Teman Advokasi serves as a platform for coordination between UNAIR DLM and ADKESMA BEM UNAIR to align on various issues emerging within the student community. The series of activities includes presentation on the outcomes of DLM and BLM forums across UNAIR, presentation on the outcomes of ADKESMA forums across UNAIR, a plenary discussion to synchronize student aspirations, and the development of advocacy strategies.

Gather student aspirations on campus needs
In this forum, participants addressed various issues related to student needs, ranging from tuition fees and financial support, academic expenses to support learning, classroom facilities, administration services, and the accessibility for students with disabilities.
These discussions served as the basis for classifying priority issues to be addressed through the advocacy process. Through this forum, student aspirations were gathered and developed so they could be used as the basis for discussions with relevant parties.
Head of UNAIR DLM, Queena Nadira Sam, stated that the advocacy forum is not focused solely on identifying student issues, but also developing steps to solve it.
“This forum is not only discussing issues, but also looking for the solutions so it could serve as the solving steps,” said Sam.
Strengthen aspiration-based advocacy strategies
Beyond gathered priority issues, the Forum Teman Advokasi also served as a platform to strengthen coordination among student organizations in developing follow-up strategies. The forum discussion outcomes provide a foundation for determining advocacy steps and the division of roles among student organizations.
Head of Advocacy Commission Haikal Azhar Budi, explained that the aspirations gathered during the forum can serve as a foundation for ensuring that student’s needs are conveyed to relevant parties.
“These aspirations can serve as a foundation to ensure that students’ voices are conveyed to the relevant directorates,” Budi explained.
Through Forum Teman Advokasi, UNAIR DLM and ADKESMA BEM UNAIR are working to establish a more systematic mechanism to deliver aspirations. This forum served as an initial step in strengthening communication between students and the university administration through advocacy based on student needs.
