UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to broaden its international academic partnerships as part of its strategy to achieve World Class University (WCU) status. One of the latest efforts was hosting a benchmarking delegation from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, on Thursday (October 30, 2025), at UNAIR’s Rectorate Hall. The visit focused on comparing institutional performance in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Strengthening SDGs implementation in higher education
The visit was part of UNAIR’s Global Engagement 1001 on 1000 2025 strategic program, which aims to enhance research collaboration and academic exchange with partner institutions worldwide. During the program, PSU delegates observed how UNAIR integrates education, research, and community service through units such as the Institute for Sustainable Community Engagement (LPMB) and the SDGs Center.
“This visit not only reinforces our bilateral cooperation but also gives our partners direct insight into how we apply the SDGs in a structured, university-wide system,” said Dian Ekowati, SE, MSi, MAppCom(OrgCh), PhD, Head of UNAIR’s Planning and Development Board.

The visit also provided a platform for discussing innovations in research management and community engagement. UNAIR highlighted the importance of integrated data and performance tracking through the Strategy Performance Management System (SPMS), which ensures that academic, research, and service activities are objectively monitored and aligned with institutional goals.
Introducing UNAIR’s flagship programs
The PSU delegation was also briefed on several of UNAIR’s flagship programs that support SDG initiatives, including interdisciplinary community service projects, collaborative research, and academic publications focused on social development. All activities are digitally archived through the ScholarWare platform, enabling comprehensive evaluation and data-driven reporting.
Beyond the benchmarking sessions, UNAIR and PSU discussed future collaborative opportunities, including joint research, faculty exchange programs, and cross-border community service initiatives. These planned activities support UNAIR’s mission to strengthen its global academic network and expand its international research footprint while optimizing SDGs implementation in line with its World Class University objectives.

Through a blend of international collaboration, integrated performance management, and data-based documentation, UNAIR remains confident in its progress toward becoming a world-class university. At the same time, it aims to advance meaningful contributions to sustainable development. The PSU delegation’s visit demonstrates that UNAIR’s strategic approach resonates with global institutions and opens the door to future, broader partnerships.
