UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) conducted a comprehensive training session on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for its lecturers and SDG experts. This event, organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs, is part of the campus orientation for incoming students, set to commence on August 16, 2024. The training took place at the ASEEC Tower, Dharmawangsa – B Campus, on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Bayu Arie Fianto, PhD, Chair of the UNAIR SDGs Center, delivered an extensive presentation covering the basics of the SDGs, as well as the global and national challenges in achieving them. He also highlighted the progress made by various countries in supporting this global agenda. “We are at a critical juncture in our efforts to achieve the SDGs. While there are many challenges, we must also acknowledge and build on the significant progress that has been made,” he remarked.

In addition to the global perspective, Fianto underscored UNAIR’s contributions towards the SDGs. He pointed out the integration of SDG concepts into the curriculum and various community service projects focusing on the 17 SDGs.
The training was attended by 54 lecturers and SDG experts from different faculties at UNAIR. Through this training, they received in-depth insights and educational materials to enrich the learning experience for the new students.
“We hope that through this training, UNAIR’s faculty and SDG experts can provide a deeper understanding of the importance of the SDGs to the students. This will enable them to become agents of change, bringing positive impacts to society,” he added.
