UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) graduates continues to achieve remarkable accomplishments. One success story is from Annisa Salsabila Dwi Nugrahani, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine (FK). Annisa has secured the prestigious Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarship to pursue a Master of Medical Science in Clinical Investigation at Harvard Medical School.
In an interview, Annisa expressed her gratitude upon learning she had been selected as an LPDP awardee. “I am incredibly grateful for this significant trust placed in me by the Indonesian government. God willing, I will use this opportunity wisely and apply the knowledge I gain to address various issues in Indonesia,” she said.
Motivation to achieve dream
Annisa shared that she had dreamt of studying abroad since childhood. Her desire grew stronger when she got into medical school. “The research methods and goals I am interested in are not widely available in Indonesia. Therefore, I wanted to study in a place where these methods and goals are supported. Alhamdulillah, I was accepted on my first attempt at Harvard University,” she revealed.
The journey to securing an LPDP scholarship at one of the world’s top universities was undoubtedly challenging. One of the biggest hurdles Annisa faced was managing her time and energy, especially as she balanced preparation with her academic obligations as an intern.
“As an intern, I had to deal with on-call shifts, exams, and rotations, which took up a lot of my time. I even had to take an exam the day before my LPDP interview or attend interviews in the early morning hours. Therefore, I had to be committed to applying for the master’s program and the LPDP scholarship while maintaining my energy levels,” Annisa added.
Achievements as student
Annisa disclosed that her experiences at UNAIR significantly contributed to her achievements. She has won approximately 25-30 awards in the medical field, was named an Outstanding Student four times at various levels, and received the title of Outstanding Graduate of Universitas Airlangga.
“One of the most meaningful experiences was receiving the Research Internship Scholarship at Mahidol University, Thailand. It was awarded when I was chosen as the Most Outstanding Student of Universitas Airlangga’s Faculty of Medicine,” Annisa conveyed.
Upon completing her studies at Harvard Medical School, Annisa hopes to continue her research in Indonesia, aligning with the primary focus of the Ministry of Health. She also plans to pursue a specialist education to help resolve health issues through research, practice, and policy-making.
