UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) formalized a partnership with RSUD Jombang aimed at improving healthcare services and education. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Plenary Meeting Room, Management Office Building, MERR-C Campus, UNAIR.
The signing ceremony was attended by UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, S.E., M.Si., M.Fin., along with senior university officials. Representing RSUD Jombang were Director Dr. Pudji Umbaran, M.K.P., and members of the hospital’s leadership team.
Strengthening UNAIR commitment to public service
In his remarks, Prof. Madyan highlighted the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and hospitals in advancing both academic and healthcare outcomes. “This partnership reflects UNAIR’s commitment to strengthening education and enhancing healthcare services through sustained collaboration,” he said.
The event also brought together leaders from health-related faculties, including the Faculties of Medicine, Public Health, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Vocational Studies. “Their presence underscores our readiness to build a more integrated partnership that can deliver tangible impact in the future,” Prof. Madyan noted.
Ensuring meaningful follow-up actions
Prof. Madyan emphasized that the MoU should not remain symbolic, but must be followed by concrete, adaptive, and sustainable programs.
“We expect this collaboration to be implemented operationally as soon as possible so that it can deliver real benefits in strengthening healthcare human resources and improving public services,” he said.
Dr. Pudji Umbaran, M.K.P., Director of RSUD Jombang, welcomed the partnership and described it as a valuable opportunity. “It is an honor for us to collaborate with UNAIR, as this partnership will help enhance healthcare services, education, and facilities for the community,” he said.
As a UNAIR alumnus, he also expressed optimism about the collaboration’s future impact. “One of our core missions is to fulfill our educational role effectively. Through this synergy, we hope to achieve shared goals in improving education quality and delivering better healthcare services,” he added.
Formalization of MoU and cooperation agreements
During the main session, the Rector of UNAIR and the Director of RSUD Jombang officially signed the MoU, establishing a framework for collaboration in areas such as education, research, resource development, and the enhancement of healthcare services.
During the same event, a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was also signed between RSUD Jombang, the Faculty of Medicine (FK), and Universitas Airlangga Hospital (RSUA). The agreement was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Eighty Mardiyan Kurniawati, Sp.OG(K), and the Director of RSUA, Dr. dr. Muhammad Ardian Chaya Laksana, Sp.OG, Subps. Obginsos, M.Kes.
Both institutions expressed confidence that the partnership will strengthen healthcare services and education, ultimately delivering broader and more sustainable benefits to the community.
