UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga students made another academic achievement once again. Communication students Abdul Malik Mambauddin, Lina Nurmasela, and Statistics student Dzuria Hilma Qurotu Ain won third place at the Creative Campaign Comfiesta, a Public Relations campaign competition held by Universitas Andalas.
“We are very happy and grateful for this achievement. It motivates us to grow and compete in the future. We hope that our accomplishment has an impact on our team and people around us, motivating them to compete as well,” Abdul Malik told UNAIR NEWS on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
Exploring food waste issue
This achievement is closely linked to their creativity in designing a good PR campaign. For the campaign, Abdul Malik and his team explored the food waste issue, which they deemed quite urgent in Indonesia.
“Our campaign focuses on the food waste issue, which is currently gaining much attention. Indonesia ranks second as the country with the highest food waste production worldwide. Our campaign is called ‘WISE’ with the hashtag #wastelesseatmore,” he said.
Overcoming challenges
Before winning the competition, they faced several challenges. However, they handled it well with discussions. Each member has their contributions with a clear task division.
“While Hilma has good research skills, Lina and I arranged an effective strategy. This is why collaboration between departments is important; it brings broader, new perspectives,” he said.
In the end, he suggested fellow students not be afraid to try something new. “There are many simple and practical competition models. Ask some friends from another major who can support the competitions you’re interested in,” he suggested.
