UNAIR wins Jatim Bangkit Awards for successful pandemic recovery

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has made another proudest achievement. It has received the Jatim Bangkit Awards 2023. This time, UNAIR was named as the Educational Institution with Best Support for Pandemic Recovery. The award ceremony took place at the Mercure Hotel Surabaya on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

UNAIR won this award thanks to its involvement in pandemic recovery, especially in East Java. UNAIR Rector, Prof Dr Mohammad Nasih, SE MT Ak said this involvement was a must, because this aligns with UNAIR’s commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

“For us, involvement in the pandemic crisis is a must. Moreover, this is in line with the implementation of higher education Tri Dharma. We must focus on teaching, research, and community service,” said Prof Nasih, on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Real contribution

Prof Nasih said that handling the pandemic was a form of real contribution from UNAIR as a comprehensive university. It means that UNAIR is not only comprehensive in academic affairs but also in handling national problems.

“Moreover, UNAIR has declared itself a comprehensive university. As a truly comprehensive university, social concern for this nation must be our utmost concern,” he added.

Then, Prof Nasih emphasized that awards are not the main goal. UNAIR is committed to staying grounded and making contributions. Primarily in producing a solid generation and developing science and technology (IPTEK) to handle various problems

“It needs to be emphasized that UNAIR will continue to be grounded by contributing nationally and regionally. Primarily to produce a strong generation and contribute to science and technology in dealing with national problems,” emphasized the Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR.

Need supports

For Prof Nasih, winning this award does not mean UNAIR stops advancing and improving. In the future, UNAIR will continue to develop innovation in various fields. Thus, UNAIR is always ready to help handle every national problem.

“In the coming years, UNAIR will develop various innovations so that UNAIR will be ready if there is a crisis or pandemic. So that UNAIR will not be left behind and ready any time. It is the lesson we learned from Covid-19,” he said.

In the end, Prof Nasih emphasized that in dealing with this problem, UNAIR cannot do it alone. There needs to be collaboration between various parties, including government, universities, society, business people and the media. He continued that crisis and pandemic recovery can run more quickly and optimally.

Pentahelix cooperation between parties is very important, including with government, academics, business, society and the media. If this cooperation exists, we will be able to handle any problems more quickly. We must work together according to capacity and ability,” he emphasized.
