UNAIR’s Amerta Nutrition journal indexed in Scopus

UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga consistently attempts to contribute to the world. Just recently, Universitas Airlangga’s Amerta Nutrition journal was successfully indexed in Scopus, a renowned and globally recognized academic database.

In an online interview with UNAIR NEWS on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, the Editor-in-Chief of Amerta Nutrition of the Faculty of Public Health, Prof Trias Mahmudiono, SKM MPH (Nutr) GCAS PhD expressed his sincere gratitude for the achievement.

“Alhamdulillah, after several years, Amerta Nutrition has successfully been indexed in Scopus. I am proud and happy to hear this news,” he said.

Achieving Scopus index journals typically takes several years, and the procedure doesn’t happen overnight.

“To achieve Scopus, we go through a long process regularly. It doesn’t happen overnight, but rather requires a long journey, from maintaining good journal quality to checking its diversity,” Prof Trias said.

Before being indexed in Scopus, the journal had already obtained an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN). Additionally, their journal was also indexed in the Science and Technology Index (SINTA) 2.

“Our journal already had an ISSN and was indexed in SINTA 2 before being indexed in Scopus. We submitted to Scopus last year, but the Open Journal System (OJS) Amerta Nutrition’s policy required the journal to be in English,” he said.

After gaining Scopus indexation, the next step is to conduct extensive promotion both domestically and internationally. For domestic promotion, they collaborate with several parties, one of which is the Association of Higher Education Institutions.

“Amerta Nutrition has been quite reputable but is rarely known in Indonesia. Therefore, we are seeking collaboration with several parties to promote our journal,” Prof Trias said.

The promotion of the journal must reach both domestic and international audiences.

“Hence, we’re conducting international expansion through various promotions via email, social media, and engaging with partner research universities abroad,” he said.
